This plate is a different study using textural canes similar to those found in my plate ‘Tapestry in Blue & Brown’. The lapis and gold translucent clay patterns are simply dazzling, and the central medallions have a jewel-like quality. As with most of my art, the rich colors take on a completely different personality when the plate is held up to the light!
